Honest Hour: Pathway To Psychiatry

Honest Hour is a virtual and anonymous safe space for teens and young adults to seek answers to your mental health questions and connect through shared experiences.

On February 16th, join NAMI-OC for Honest Hour! If you’re curious about getting into psychiatry, join our panel as they share their insights about what to expect from school, residency, managing stress and why they chose psychiatry. Joining the panel are:

  • Dr. Shawn Verma, MD - In his current fellowship, he completed clinical rotations at U.C. Irvine Medical Center (UCI) and at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) in an effort to sub-specialize in child & adolescent psychiatry.
  • Nikki Nguyen, MD - She is a current resident physician in psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine. She received her degree in psychobiology in 2014 and made her way to the Midwest for medical school at Western Michigan University, graduating in 2020. She is planning to pursue fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry this coming summer.
  • Jessica Wong - She is a third year medical student at UC Irvine. In medical school, she completed clinical rotations in consult psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry.
