Directing Change in Orange County: Awards Night & Reception

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA) is proud to join the national movement in raising awareness and educating the public about the importance of mental health and wellness.

HCA in partnership with the Orange County Department of Education, will host the 2023 Directing Change Awards Ceremony for the Orange County schools and students who participated in the 2023 Directing Change program. This event is open to all participating students, their families, teachers, staff, and the community members who wish to help us celebrate the success of the Orange County students, teachers and advisors who dedicated their time and creative energies to the production of these impactful films.

The Directing Change Program is a statewide competition in which California students produce 60-second films on topics related to mental health to prevent suicide, reduce stigma and discrimination related to mental illness, and promote the mental health and wellness. HCA facilitated a local judging process for films submitted by Orange County students. The winning submissions, selected by the local judges, will be screened at the event.

Please join us on National Children's Mental Health Day (May 11th) to recognize and honor the winning submissions across multiple categories. It will be an evening of fun and celebration, bringing students together to share their work in support of enhancing the mental health and wellness of our Orange County youth.

Hors d’oeuvres will be provided, and admission is at no cost for Orange County residents. Free parking is also available for the event on the North side of the museum, accessible from Main Street. Event participants will enter the museum through the Sculpture Garden.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience to reserve your seat.
